LUCA will gather a great bunch of key players in Big Data, Corporations and NGOs to explore and understand the potential of Big Data to improve our World
Over the past few years, there has been great hype around how Big Data technology can optimize our organizations, maximize revenues and bring us closer to our customers. However, there is another much more social side to data: one that allows us to use these massive volumes of information to bring back real value to our society. We call this Big Data for Social Good.
Big Data and Artificial Intelligence will play a crucial role in enabling us to measure our progress on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – using payment data to measure the economic impact of earthquakes, using satellite imaging to identify flood risk areas, using search queries to monitor the spread of dengue fever or even using mobile phone data to analyze literacy rates in remote areas. The possibilities are endless.
In this event, LUCA (Telefónica’s specialist Big Data unit) is working with Telefónica Open Future to bring together people who are passionate about turning Big Data for Social Good from “storytelling” into “storydoing”, uniting changemakers from the private sector, the public sector, startups, NGO’s and academic institutions. We want to build a community where partnerships and collaboration allow us to drive forwards towards the Sustainable Development Goals together – using Big Data, Data Science, AI and Machine Learning.
